1934 Morgan 3 wheeler Super Sports

From the Morgan 3 wheeler club page “ The 1934 Morgan Super Sports 3-Wheeler with JAP engine is one of the most charismatic and recognizable British pre-war sports cars ever built. Morgan’s three-wheelers were originally created to exploit cyclecar tax advantages while delivering genuine sports car performance, and by the 1930s the Super Sports had become the most exciting version of the breed”

What made it special was its exposed JAP (J. A. Prestwich) V-twin engine mounted proudly at the front—essentially a high-performance motorcycle engine in a featherweight chassis. Depending on specification, these engines delivered lively performance because the car weighed so little, giving a thrilling power-to-weight ratio for its era.

Typical characteristics:

• Engine: JAP V-twin, air-cooled
• Layout: 2 front wheels, 1 driven rear wheel
• Transmission: manual gearbox with chain/final drive arrangements varying by model
• Body: lightweight sporting coachwork
• Performance: quick acceleration for the 1930s, with a very raw driving experience

The Super Sports also built a strong competition reputation in hill climbs, trials, and club racing, helping establish Morgan as a serious sporting marque rather than merely an eccentric cyclecar maker.

Our car is a RHD version although it has lived part of its life in the States, it was re imported to the UK in 2020, it’s original plate would have been AXE982, making it a London registered car from 1933-1934.

The car was recommissioned by a well-known Morgan dealer in 2020 and will be gone through again by us as it has not turned a wheel since.

The car was inspected by the Morgan 3-wheeler club and is all present and correct, obviously previously fully restored and although the engine is not the original matching numbers it is nevertheless period and correct for the car.
